School Master House -
existing dwelling:
The only remaining original structure from the Trapps Village
is the ‘School Master House,’ once the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard George, who
taught at the one-room school house on Trapps Road. The recently renovated circa 1900 home is presently a
seasonal vacation home. The two-story,
three bedroom house has a full attic, a laid-up stone basement and a single,
but spacious bathroom, large great room and dining room. The house is eligible for the Historic
Register, but the owners have not proceeded with designation. Other structures on the 5.6 acre property
include a decaying, but original 2-horse stable that originally served ‘School
Master House’ and an excellent condition 4,500 +/- square foot, two-story barn
built in 1989. The barn is currently
used to store equipment. It will make an
excellent stable with multiple stalls, hayloft and adjoining large tack or
carriage room. The original horse stable may be restored or rebuilt on the same footprint.
